The consequences of the Tuesday evening IPL confrontation between Delhi Capitals (DC) And Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) At the Ekana Cricket Stadium was dominated by a rather freezing exchange between the former LSG captain Kl Rahul And the owner of the franchise Sanjiv Goenka.
Kl Rahul ignores Sanjiv Goenka after DC’s victory over LSG
Following a commanding victory of 8 titles for the capitals of Delhi, orchestrated by half an undefeated half-century of Rahul himself, the usual post-match handles took a clumsy turn. While players on both sides exchanged jokes, Goenka approached Rahul with a smile and reached out.
However, to the surprise of the spectators and the cameras present, Rahul offered a very brief handshake, apparently without contacting the eyes, and immediately moved to DC’s canoe. Goenka seemed to try a conversation, but Rahul was not in an interaction mood and continued his release, leaving the owner of the LSG standing on the ground.
Adding to the perceived camouflet, Rahul also apparently avoided recognizing the son of Goenka, who was standing nearby.

This cold interaction quickly became viral on social networks, reviving discussions on the circumstances surrounding the departure of Rahul of the Super Giants from Lucknow before the 2025 season. Rahul had captain the LSG franchise for three seasons, from 2022 to 2024.

History of IPL between KL Rahul and Sanjeev Gaoenka
The tensions between Rahul and Goenka would have surfaced during the previous IPL season. An IPL 2024 video showed Goenka in a lively discussion with Rahul on the line line After a heavy defeat, an exchange which aroused criticism for its public nature. Although the official reason for the release of Rahul de LSG was his desire for a “new start” and a “lighter team atmosphere”, many think that the previous incident has played an important role.
Interestingly, before the season, Goenka had referred to the prioritization of the players who put the team first, while Rahul had spoken of looking for an environment where he could play with more freedom.

On the ground, Rahul’s performance speaks volumes. Playing against his former team for the first time, he anchored the pursuit of Delhi’s capital with a 57 compound and undefeated bullets, also reaching the 5000 point IPL in the process, becoming the fastest to do so in the history of the League (in 130 innings).
