New Delhi: in a moment of deep pride and emotion, Mumbai cricket The Rohit Sharma pillar expressed its disbelief and its gratitude after the Mumbai cricket association (MCA) has decided to appoint a stand in the iconic Wankhede stadium after him.
“You get these kinds of honors, having a stand named to you … This is something that I cannot imagine,” said Rohit at a recent event.

The MCA made this historic decision at its 86 annual general meeting, alongside tributes to two other pillars of the Indian cricket.
The level 3 stand of the Divcha pavilion will now bear the name of Rohit Sharma, recognizing his leadership and contributions, including the recent T20 World Cup Triumph in the United States and the Antilles and the ICC champions trophy, victory earlier this year in the water.

In addition, the large level 4 stand will be appointed after the late Ajit Wadekar, the former captain of Legendary India who led India to historic victories of the tests series in England and in the Antilles in 1971.
The large level 3 stand will be dedicated to Sharad Pawar, former president of MCA, BCCI and ICC, recalls its central role in the transformation of the Wankhede and the realization of world events such as the 2011 World Cup final in Mumbai.
MCA president Ajinkya Naik said that decisions were a sincere tribute to icons that shaped Mumbai’s Cricket identity.
“These stands echo their inheritance-brick brick, running by race,” he said.
Meanwhile, MCA also honored her former President Amol Kale, who died in 2024, appointing the match day office like the MCA office room in his memory.
