Perez left Friday’s match against the Boston Red Sox after three rounds with inflammation of the left elbow. He granted five strokes on his 52 locations, one of which was the first of the two three-point circuits by Trevor Story during the 10-2 defeat of Chicago.
“We need Martin,” said Venable, director of the White Sox on Friday evening. “We need the things he does on the mound, the things he does in the clubhouse.”
Perez, 34, is 1-1 with an MPM of 3.15 in four starts this season, his first with the team since his signing of a one year and $ 5 million contract.
