Australia played their last ODI against India when they lost the semi-final of the Champions Trophy.

Australia has appointed their ODI and T20I teams for the next series of white bullets against South Africa, with Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood returning to both formats after being rested for the Antilles tour. The series, from August 10, will start the start of summer at home in Australia and will be played through Darwin, Cairns and Mackay.

Mitchell Owen wins an Odi first call

One of the main discussion points is the selection of Mitchell Owen, who receives his first ODI call after an impressive first T20I series against the Antilles, where he scored 125 points at a 192.30 strike pace. The explosive versatile has been accelerated in the 50 side, filling the average vacuum left by the recent retirements by Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. It was he who replaced Maxwell in the configuration of the Kings of Punjab (PBKS) also at IPL 2025.

Lance Morris also goes to the ODI team, adding a raw rhythm to the attack. Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne, recently passed on the test side, retains its place Odi. Australia continues to manage the workloads of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, which remain rested. In the absence of Cummins, Mitchell Marsh will be captain of the ODI team, having already led the T20i team to a 5-0 scan on the Antilles.

The selectors also reduced the T20 Squad to 14, with Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Cooper Connolly and Xavier Bartlett missing despite the series in the Caribbean series. However, Bartlett returns for the ODI alongside Alex Carey and Xavier Bartlett.
