The Chicago Blackhawks signed the goalkeeper Arvid Soderblom to an extension of $ 5.5 million two years on Saturday.

The agreement takes place throughout the 2026-27 season for Soderblom, which avoided arbitration.

Soderblom, 25, posted a record of 10-18-7 with an average of goals ranging from 3.18 and a percentage of stops of 0.898 in 36 games (33 departures) last season. He established careers in the victories and matches played.

He has a 17-52-11 file with a 3.55 GAA and a safeguard percentage of 0.889 in 86 career games (77 departures) with the Blackhawks. He signed with Chicago as a free agent not drafted in 2021.

  1. Soderblom sounds like a dishwasher detergent brand my mom would buy at costco lmao. But hey if he can clean up the mess in front of the net maybe it fits

  2. Finally some good news! Soderblom deserved this extension, hes been solid when given the chance. Maybe not a star but definately a reliable backup atleast.

  3. Contract details haven’t been released yet but expect it to be under 1 million AAV. Soderblom posted a .919 save percentage in the AHL last year wich is respectable. He’s a 6’3″ goalie with decent positioning, just needs more consitency at NHL level.

  4. Sure, because what this dumpster fire of a team really needed was MORE commitment to being average. At least we’re consistent in our mediocrity I guess?

  5. Another wasted contract by Davidson and the front office. We should of been going after proven talent not extending AHL caliber players. This franchise is going nowhere fast with decisions like these.

  6. So we’re just ignoring that he got lit up by every good team he faced? Yeah ok lets keep pretending this is a smart move instead of admiting we have no idea how to build a winning roster anymore.

  7. For those wondering, Soderblom is 24 years old and was originally drafted in 2019. He’s played 37 NHL games with mixed results but showed improvement last year. The contract is likely around league minimum so its low risk for Chicago.

  8. Plot twist: they extended him because he’s the only goalie who knows where they keep the good coffee in the locker room. Strategic move if you ask me, team morale is important!! 😂

  9. People saying this is a bad signing clearly dont watch the games. Who else you gonna get for backup money? He’s young and developing, give him time before trashing the move.

  10. 2 years?? Are we serious right now? The guy has like what a .895 save percentage last season. This organization never learns from there mistakes.

  11. Oh great, just what we needed – job security for mediocrity. Why aim for excellence when you can just extend everyone whose slightly better than terrible?

  12. Wow, 2 whole years! I’m sure that’ll solve all our goaltending problems. Can’t wait to see more 6-2 losses next season lol
