Oh great, another “veteran presence” signing. Because that’s exactly what wins championships – collecting pitchers who peak five years ago. I’m sure this will work out perfectly, just like all our other brilliant bullpen decisions.
For those wondering: Devenski had a 3.09 ERA in 2017 with Houston. He’s bounced around a bit but posted decent numbers in Arizona last year. Brazoban optioned after allowing 6 ER in his last 4 apperances. Still has options left so makes sense roster wise.
People saying this is a good move clearly dont watch the games. Brazoban has way more upside than Devenski at this point in there careers. Why are we giving up on young talent for another recycled arm?? This organization never learns from mistakes.
Another washed up pitcher past his prime. This front office dont learn do they?? We needed a real closer not someone who had a good season 5 years ago. What a joke.
I dont get why everyone is so negative all the time?? This is clearly a depth move. Brazoban needs to work on his command in minors and Devenski gives us insurance. Its not like we DFA’d Brazoban he’ll be back if he figures things out. Some of you act like every single roster move is the end of the world seriuosly.
Wow genius move by the front office as usual lmao. Can’t wait to see Devenski blow saves in critical games while Brazoban dominates in Triple-A. Maybe next we can sign some guys from the senior league too?
So we’re basically trading Brazoban for his colleague? Did they carpool together or something? “Hey Chris, I got optioned but theres an opening now wanna take my spot?” “Sure buddy thanks for the hookup!” This is how I imagine it went down at least lol.
Finally some good news for once! Devenski is a solid pickup and Brazoban being optioned makes sense since he was struggling lately. Hope Chris can bring that veteran presense to the bullpen we desperatly need.
Not terrible I guess. Devenski has experience and might stabalize things short term.
