“He does not hunt Sachin Tendulkar because it is certainly not the way he plays his cricket or how he sees it,” said Buttler.“But it is the number two on an incredibly elite list, with what seems – if it remains in shape – a little achievable, which is absolutely breathtaking.“He has 21 cents since Covid. He is obviously in the form of his life and it’s great to watch,” he added. The former fast launcher of England and co-host of the Podcast, Stuart Broad, asked to buttler: “Are you sitting there and think that it is a fact that he will do it?”Buttler replied: “It could be a little more in his favor.”

Do you think Joe Root will go beyond Sachin Tendulkar testing?

“Hunger is never a problem I see with Root. He is not going to wake up in 2-3 years and thinks that he does not have love for the striker or the game for England. He has just played so well, even during this period when England won a match in 17 years and he was captain.“But he just doesn’t see him at all. What, I think, is the great thing about him. He just likes to play and win matches. So, it’s going to be pretty cool to watch if it stays at No. 2 or the scale of Everest and goes to No. 1.”The fifth and last test of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy will be played in Thursday.

  1. Root is fantastic cricketer and still has few good years left in him. Maybe he wont break Sachin record but he will defintely go down as one of England greatest ever batsman. Thats achievement enough no?

  2. Why everyone always comparing modern players to Sachin?? Its not fair because cricket changed so much. Different pitches, diferent rules, diferent equipment. Apples and oranges mate!

  3. Oh yes, because Jos Buttler is definitely the authority on batting records. The same guy who averages 32 in tests? Thanks for the expert analysis Jos! 😂

  4. Buttler should concentrate on winning matches for England instead giving commentary on legends. England lost series in India so badly and now he talking about Sachin??

  5. To be fair, Root has scored 12,000+ test runs and still going strong. Sachin finished with 15,921 runs. Mathematically Root needs around 3,900 more runs which at his current rate could take 2-3 years if he maintains fitness and form.

  6. typical english media trying to hype their players again lol. Next week they will say Buttler is better keeper than Dhoni 🤣🤣

  7. The statistic shows Root averaging 50+ in tests which is phenomenal. However, Sachin dealt with prime Wasim, Waqar, McGrath, Steyn, Donald – absolute legends. Modern bowling not same quality overall.

  8. Why this is even debate?? Sachin played in era with no DRS, more bowler friendly pitches, heavier bats restrictions. Root playing in era favorable to batsmans with all tecnology helping them!

  9. lol another english player talking nonsense. Root cant even score in india propely how he gonna chase Tendulkar records?? Buttler should focus on his own form first

  10. Buttler is absolutly right! Root is amazing batsman but Sachin was on diferent level entirely. No comparison really, Tendulkar faced much tougher bowling attacks in his era.

  11. Sure Jan. Next you’ll tell me Buttler doesn’t think he’s the best wicketkeeper batsman ever either 🙄

  12. Root is excelent player no doubt. But Buttler speaking truth here, the longetivity and consistency of Sachin over 24 years is unmatchable. Root would need to play till 40+ to even get close.
