Mookie Betts has not traveled with the Dodgers and will not play Friday evening when Los Angeles faces the Boston Red Sox host as he deals with a personal affair, the manager Dave Roberts told journalists on Friday.

However, Betts is expected to arrive at Boston around 7:15 p.m., the start of the match on Saturday. Roberts said he was not sure if Betts will be aligned on Saturday.

“There could be things that may not happen, that he has to face personally,” said Roberts after the 4-3 Wednesday victory over the visiting minnesota twins in which Betts started a ninth round gathering with a single in the inner field of two outings. “Everything is fine with him, but yes, we will see.”

Betts spent the first six seasons of his career in Boston and was the MVP of the American League in 2018, when he led the Red Sox to a victory of the World Series against the Dodgers. Betts was exchanged in the Dodgers in 2020 for Alex Verdugo, throwing Downs and Connor Wong. He was an All-Star and obtained MVP votes in the first four of his first five years with Los Angeles.

The 32 -year -old has experienced difficulties this season with career lows in all areas offensively, reaching 0.238 with a basic percentage of 0.309, a percentage of .370 slugging, 11 circuits and 45 points produced in 94 games this year.

The All-Star and the former MVP of the American League has a line of career striking. 290 / .369 / .514 with 282 circuits and 876 points produced in 1475 games for the Boston Red Sox (2014-2019) and Dodgers (2020-25). He won a World Series title with Boston in 2018 and two with the Dodgers, in 2020 and 2024.

  1. Oh great, another “could come back” situation. Because that always works out exactly as planned right? I’ll believe it when I actually see him on the field

  2. honestly not surprised his body breaking down with all these injuries lately hope im wrong but this could be a longterm problem

  3. For those wondering, Mookie has been dealing with some minor soreness. The team is being cautious which makes sense given we’re still early in the season. His stats this year: .289 BA, 8 HRs, 24 RBIs. Not his best but still solid contribution when healthy.

  4. This is really concerning for fantasy owners tho.. I got him on 3 of my teams and now im scrambling for replacements

  5. Are you kidding me?? We paying him millions and he cant even play against the sox? This is ridiculous management need to figure this out ASAP

  6. Perfect timing Mookie! Missing the Sox series is def the best stragety for winning championships. Maybe sit out the playoffs too while your at it?

  7. Why are people freaking out?? Its just precautionary rest. Better to miss 2 games than be out for 2 months later. Use your brains people

  8. I dont understand why everyone acting like this the end of the world. Players rest all the time especially against weaker opponents. The Sox arent exactly world beaters this year no offense to their fans but its true

  9. my grandma could play better than mookie been playing lately and shes 87 years old maybe we should sign her instead

  10. watch him come back saturday and go 0-4 with 3 strikeouts cause he wasnt ready.. but hey at least we rushed him back right??

  11. This actually makes sense from a medical standpoint. Soft tissue issues need proper recovery time. Rushing back could lead to compensatory injuries elsewhere. The dodgers medical staff knows what their doing.

  12. Man this is huge news for the dodgers.. Hope Mookie comes back strong on saturday we really need him in the lineup badly
