In the midst of the reports of Nitish Reddy wanting to leave SRH before IPL 2026, the versatile gave a clarification on Sunday

Nitish Kumar Reddy has clarified that he intends to continue playing with Sunrisers Hyderabad and has no plans to move to any other team. His response comes after reports claimed that the Andhra Pradesh all-rounder could be looking to go to another team in IPL 2026. Nitish was among the players retained by SRH ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Nitish Reddy to not abandon SRH

Taking to social media platform X, Reddy categorically stated that his connection with SRH was based on trust, respect and shared passion. He vowed to stand by the team always. Nitish has currently returned to India after he was ruled out of the remainder of IND vs ENG Test series due to a knee injury.

I tend to stay away from the noise, but some things deserve clarity. My connection with SRH is built on trust, respect, and years of shared passion. I’ll always stand by this team,” Nitish Reddy wrote.

Nitish made his debut for SRH in 2023. However, he had a breakout season in 2024, where he scored 303 runs and picked up three wickets. His performance in that season not only allowed his Team India debut to be fast-tracked but also earned the trust of the franchise. Reddy emerged as the one of the team’s most reliable all-rounders, especially with the bat.

Reddy was then retained for Rs 6 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The recent edition of the tournament saw Nitish Reddy put up a sub-par peformance. He managed to score just 182 runs in 13 matches, averaging 22.75. He was hardly used with the ball in the season, bowling just six overs in which he picked up a couple of wickets.

9 thoughts on “Nitish Kumar Reddy leave SRH in IPL 2026? The versatile clarifies”
  1. For those who dont know, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been retained by SRH multiple times because of his versatility. He can bat in middle order and also bowl medium pace which makes him valuable asset. His performance in last season was decent with 280+ runs and 8 wickets. The retention rules for IPL 2026 allows teams to retain upto 6 players so there good chance SRH will keep him.

  2. Everyone talking about retention but nobody asking if his form will even justify big paycheck. Last few matches was dissapointing performance wise tbh

  3. His statement makes lot of sense actually. Why would he want leave a franchise where he got opportunities and support? But question is whether SRH wants to retain him or not given their past decisions have been questionable

  4. Why everyone acting like he’s some irreplaceable superstar?? His stats are average at best and there are atleast 10 better all-rounders available in auction. SRH should invest money in experienced players not in young talent who hasnt proved anything yet!

  5. “Versatile clarifies” – yeah right, because nothing says clarity like giving vague diplomatic answers that could mean literally anything. Thanks for clearing that up Nitish! Now we know absolutely nothing concrete just like before haha

  6. What clarification?? This is just typical PR talk to keep fans calm. Every player says same thing before auction and then goes for highest bidder lol. SRH managment has been horrible anyway so cant blame him if he leaves

  7. Oh wow, a player saying he wants to stay with his current team before auction season. How groundbreaking and totally unexpected! Next you’ll tell me water is wet.

  8. Finally some clarity from Nitish himself! Was getting tired of all the speculation and fake news flying around. Hope he stays with SRH, they really need his all-round abilities in both batting and bowling department.

  9. SRH management be like: “Should we retain Nitish?” *checks bank balance* “Umm maybe next year” 😂😂 Poor guy gonna end up playing for some random new team nobody heard of
