Attend the weather and the prediction of the rain for the fourth day of the fourth test game in Manchester.

England finished Day 3 at a commanding 544/7, extending their first-innings lead to 186 runs and pushing India further on the back foot in the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford. Joe Root’s masterclass 150* and a gritty knock from skipper Ben Stokes (77*) have firmly put the hosts in the driver’s seat.

India’s misery at Old Trafford

With just three wickets remaining and the pitch still playing true, England will look to bat once and bat India out of the match and the series.

India briefly found hope with a flurry of wickets in the second session, removing Ollie Pope and Harry Brook cheaply. But their control slipped as Root and Stokes counterattacked. To make matters worse, both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj walked off the field late in the day, and looked jaded. Shubman Gill brought in Washington Sundar in 69th over, while Anshul Kamboj’s debut hasn’t been great either.

As Day 4 begins, the visitors will need divine intervention or some heavy Manchester clouds to ease the pressure. And weather, for once, might be on their side. Let us look at the rain chances on Day 4 (July 26) at Old Trafford.

10 thoughts on “Rain in Manchester to save Shubman Gill?”
  1. LOL next what? We gonna pray to rain gods before every match? Maybe hire weather manipulation team as 12th man?? 😂😂

  2. I completely disagree with this entire premise. A washout doesn’t solve anything – it only delays the inevitable. Gill needs match practice not rain delays. What happens next match when sun is shining? Are we gonna hope for rain again?? This is not sustainable solution and honestly bit insulting to suggest professional cricketer needs weather to bail him out. He’s better than that and we should expect better performances regardless of conditions.

  3. This is absolutely ridiculous take. Your basically saying that Gill performance depends on whether or not it rains?? How does rain even help him score runs when match resumes? Unless rain teaches batting techniques I dont understand this logic at all. Please explain.

  4. Haha this is hilarious! So now we’re depending on weather to save our players career?? What kind of logic is this. If Gill can’t perform under presure then maybe he shouldnt be in the team at all. Rain or shine, champions find a way!

  5. Actually Manchester weather patterns during this time of year show 68% chance of precipitation. Looking at historical data from last 10 years, rain interruptions have occured in 7 out of 12 matches played in June. So statistically speaking, there is good possibility.

  6. Why everyone always looking for excuses?? Gill needs to prove himself on field not wait for rain to save him. This mentality is whats wrong with cricket these days smh

  7. Oh perfect solution! Lets just cancel all matches when our players are struggling. Maybe we should also ask opposition to bowl slower balls only? Or perhaps give Gill extra lives like video game? Brilliant strategy really.

  8. Hahaha imagine team meeting before match: ‘Ok boys, whats the weather forecast? Oh no its sunny, we’re doomed!’ This is peak cricket analysis right here folks 🤣

  9. I think this is actually good thinking! Sometimes players need bit of break to reset mentally. The pressure on Gill has been immense and if rain gives him extra day to prepare and regain confidence, why not? We should support our players not tear them down constantly.
