March 4, 2025; Clearwater, Florida, United States; The Philadelphia Phillies launcher, Ranger Suarez (55), run after a game against New York Yankees in fifth round during spring training at Baycare Ballpark. Compulsory credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images Crushed by a painful back for the first five weeks of the season, the Ranger Suarez will start in 2025 Sunday afternoon when the Philadelphia Phillies operated for a scan of three games of the Arizona on a visit.
An essential in the rotation of Philadelphia in the last three seasons and more, Suarez comes from a year during which he went 12-8 with an MPM of 3.46. He made the National League Stars team and posted a career summit in victories, as well as stick withdrawals (145) and a withdrawal ratio on withdrawal (3.54).
As Suarez, 29, is launching in a major league match for the first time since last fall, the Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that he will allow the left -hander to launch about 90 throws if things were going as planned.
“He made 80 throws the last time; we can probably increase this little,” said Thomson in reference to the four rehabilitation outings of the Minor League of Suarez. “But it won’t be full.”
The place of Suarez in the rotation could be temporary, because the phillies could also use aid in the enclosure of the lifts in the future. Suarez was successful as a lifter earlier in his career, but he would prefer to stay in rotation.
“Obviously, it must depend on the context,” he said this week. “It’s difficult. But, obviously, I want to be in rotation all the time. I want to be a starter all the time. But if it is for the good of the team, if it is to win something, if it is to arrive at the World Series, then I am ready to do anything.”
Suarez has a 1-3 file with an MPM of 5.09 in nine career games (six departures) against the Diamondbacks.
Arizona will give the head sign on Sunday to Eduardo Rodriguez (1-3, 6.06 ERA), who will seek to bounce back from his worst start to the season. The left-hander granted eight points and nine safe in four rounds against the New York dishes on Tuesday, withdrawing only one of the 22 strikers he faced during an 8-3 defeat.
“I have the impression that it was one of those days when you don’t have your land that work very well,” said Rodriguez after the match. “I have the impression that today was just a grinder for me outside the door. They took advantage of it. I thought nothing worked today.”
Rodriguez is 1-1 with an MPM of 3.06 in three career starts against Philadelphia.
Philadelphia took the opening of the series of Friday 3-2 thanks to the seventh round of the Kyle Schwarber and Max Kepler circuits. Kepler struck another circuit on Saturday – and JT Realmuto struck one of his own – while the phillies drove a triumph of 7-2, fueled by the six right -wing sleeves Aaron Nola during his first victory of the season.
“We did a lot of good things tonight,” said Thomson after Saturday’s victory.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. struck a two -point circuit to take into account the entire Diamondbacks offensive. The team has only four points in this series and has lost seven of its last 10 games in total.
“We just have to go back to the approach in all terrain,” said manager Torey Lovullo. “Brind Out (good at-bats), hit the bullets to all fields and all directions, understand what the BAT is asking for, know where you hit in alignment. Some places force you to put yourself on the basis, certain places and certain players. We must make sure they know what they are supposed to do inside a programming and an attack, one through new.” We are doing a good team.
