Karnataka’s chief minister Siddaramaiah responded to the tragic Stampede outside Mr. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru during the IPL Victory of RCB’s Victory on June 4. Siddaramaiah said her government was not responsible for Stampede, adding that RCB and Ksca were responsible for the tragedy.
On June 4, a large crowd of about two to three Lakh Lakh gathered in front of Mr. Chinnaswamy’s stadium to celebrate the victory of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, IPL 2025. During the congratulating ceremony, a stampede occurred, which led to the death of 11 individuals and injuries to 56 other.

Siddaramaiah denied any role in the organization of the event of the RCB victory celebrations. The CM said that it only attended the presence of officials from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Siddaramaiah added that RCB and Ksca were responsible for organizing the function.
“The secretary and treasurer of the KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) came and invited me to the event. We did not organize the function, the KSCA did,” Siddaramaiah told journalists.
“They also informed me that the governor also arrives, I only went there.

The chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, was not present at the stadium of Mr. Chinnaswamy during the jostling on June 4. However, he attended the congratulation ceremony of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru held in front of Vidhana Soudha after being invited by KSCA officials.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, the opposition led by the BJP demanded the resignation of Siddaramaiah. They accused the government of the State of not having properly managed the celebrations and criticized it to focus more on political perspective than on public security.
Last week, the government of Karnataka announced a 25 -Lakh remuneration package for the families of those who lost their lives in the stampede.

Several senior police officials from Bengaluru, including the police inspector of Cubbon Park, the officer of the station house, the Jurisdiction ACP, the Central DCP, the responsibility in charge of the stadium and the city police commissioner, were suspended by the Siddaramaiah government after the tragic.
Siddaramaiah also called for the arrest of RCB representatives, the DNA event management company and the KSCA, declaring that preliminary evidence suggest that their negligence and their lack of care contributed to the disaster
“RCB representatives, even DNA managers, the event management company and the Karnataka cricket body must be arrested,” said Siddaramaiah. “We asked for their arrest as prima facie, it seems that their negligence and apathy have led to the tragedy,” added the chief minister.
The High Court of Karnataka has taken measures from Suo Motu concerning the bombardity of Bengaluru. He asked the government of Siddaramaiah to provide a detailed state report.
