The Kings of Sacramento and the Managing Director Monte McNair agreed to separate after Wednesday’s defeat against the Dallas Mavericks, several points of sale reported on Thursday.
McNair has just completed his fifth season in the role. He was appointed executive of the year of the NBA after Sacramento ended a drought from 16 to 16 years old in the league in 2022-2010.
The Sacramento season, ninth seeded, ended with a 120-106 home defeat against Dallas at 10th seeded. The Kings finished 40-42 in the regular season.
McNair would have lost the power to make decision in the organization, who dismissed head coach Mike Brown after 31 games this season and have waves with a series of important alignment movements. Sacramento signed DeMar Derozan as a free agent in July and on the deadline has exchanged from the Fox to the Spurs and acquired Zach Lavine from the Chicago Bulls.
The Kings compiled a percentage of victories of .488 in five seasons under McNair, compared to a clip of .362 in the previous five campaigns.
McNair worked in the Houston Rockets front front for 13 years before being hired as director general of Kings and president of basketball operations in September 2020.
