A fan of Pakistan was invited to cover his jersey in the 4th Ind Vs Eng at Old Trafford test and he left the ground in agitation.

The IND vs ENG 4th Test was not without drama. India escaped through with a draw after tons from Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. On field the final half-hour saw tempers flare with England rebuffed in their efforts to call a draw. Off the field, a fan was asked to cover his ‘Pakistan’ shirt at Old Trafford.

Pakistan fan asked to cover jersey, Lancashire to investigate

A video on social media went viral after a Pakistan fan was asked to cover his jersey at Old Trafford. The fan, named Farooq Nazar, sported a replica of the Pakistan limited overs jersey but was initially asked by security to cover it.

The security in the video was heard saying, “I have been asked by control if you can cover that shirt up please.” A steward at the game can be heard saying the jersey could be viewed as nationalistic. ESPNCricinfo reported that Lancashire have launched an investigation into the same.

Nazar was reportedly asked by the police to speak in private. It is reported that he left Old Trafford agitated than cover up his jersey. It however is unclear on which of the 5 days did the incident occur. Lancashire confirmed they were looking into the same.

“We are aware of the incident referenced and are taking steps to understand the facts and context surrounding the matter fully,” a Lancashire spokesperson said as per ESPN Cricinfo.

The India vs Pakistan rivalry is no secret and tensions between the two nations have come to a head in recent times. There were escalations at the border in May. That resulted in an IPL suspension for 10 days. BCCI refused to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup, but eventually found common ground.

  1. At least the investigation happening which is good sign. Shows that authorities taking fan concerns seriously weather we agree with them or not. Thats how proper system should work actually.

  2. So let me get this strait… a Pakistan fan asked to cover jersey and now theres a full investigation?? What next, investigating people for cheering to loud? This is why cricket is loosing fans, to much drama over nothing.

  3. This hole situation could of been avoided if stadium security was better in the first place. Just saying what everyone thinking but afraid to say.

  4. Why always Pakistan fans creating problems?? Every time there is some drama with them. Maybe they should learn some basic sportsmanship before comming to stadium. This kind of behavour is not acceptable in cricket!

  5. This is absolutly ridiculous! How can they allow this kind of behavoir at internationl matches?? Lancashire need to take strong action against such fans who creating problems. Sport should be about unity not division.

  6. This hole situation could of been avoided if proper guidelines were there for fans. What is allowed and what isnt should be made clear before match starts.

  7. Another day another controversy in cricket world. When will people just enjoy the game instead of making everything complicated?? I remember when cricket was simple and fan just came to watch good cricket not to make demands from players.

  8. What I dont understand is why this is even news?? Fans make weird requests all the time at sporting events. Did the fan threaten someone? Did they actually cover anything? The article doesnt explain nothing properly and now everyones jumping to conclusions without facts.

  9. For those asking – this likely refers to Pakistan supporters requesting to cover sponsor logos on jerseys during the 4th test match. Lancashire Cricket Club would investigate any breech of stadium regulations or attempts to interfere with official match protocols.

  10. lol imagine going to cricket match and asking players to cover their uniform 😂 whats the point of even going then

  11. Oh great, another controversy at cricket match! Just what we needed to make sport more exciting – fashion police at stadiums! Maybe next time they’ll investigate someone wearing wrong brand of shoes too?? Give me a break with this nonsense.

  12. Oh yes, because covering jerseys is definitely the BIGGEST problem cricket is facing right now. Not match fixing, not corruption, but jersey visibility. Brilliant priorities we got here folks!

  13. Wait im confused… was it 4th test or 4th engine test?? The title dont make sence to me lol. Also what does covering jersey even mean in this context? Need more details plz.

  14. 4th 4th engine test tho? Someone need better proofreading skills haha. But seriously this situation is concerning for future matches.

  15. Fantastic job by Lancashire authorities!! This type of incidants needs to be adressed immediatly. We cant have fans dictating what others should wear.

  16. I was their at the match and didnt see anything unusual happen. Are we sure this even happened or is it just another social media rumor?

  17. I was actually at the match and seen this happen. The security staff was trying there best to handle situation but it got little bit heated. The fan was insisting that certain jersey should be covered because of political reasons which is not appropriate for cricket ground. Lancashire county doing right thing by looking into this matter properly.

  18. This is absolutly ridiculous! Why would any fan do this during such important test match?? Lancashire need to take this seriosly and ban this person from stadium permanently. Such behaivor ruin the game for everyone else who came to enjoy cricket properly.

  19. I was at the ground that day and saw whole thing unfold. The fan seemed very insistant and security had to get involved eventually. Players look confused but handled it professionaly. Good on Lancashire for taking it seriously and not just ignoring incident like these things usually get swept under carpet.

  20. This is serious matter actually. If fan is attempting to force another spectator to cover there jersey base on nationality or politics, then Lancashire must investigate thorougly and possibly ban the individual. Cricket grounds should be safe space for all fans irregardless of which team they supporting.

  21. So let me get this strait… fan asks someone to cover jersey, gets investigated, and now its international news? Meanwhile real issues at cricket matches like poor facilities and expensive tickets getting ignored. Priorities people!!

  22. Haha 4th engine test?? Are we playing cricket or testing airplanes now? 😂 Maybe the fan wanted to make the jersey more aerodynamic for better bowling speeds lmaooo

  23. Lmao imagine going to cricket match and spending your time worrying about someone elses shirt instead of watching the game. Peak entertainment right there folks!

  24. I dont understand why this even news worthy? People argue at sports events all the time. Lancashire probably just doing investigation to cover themself legally.

  25. Good to see Lancashire taking proactive approach! This shows they care about all spectators safety and comfort.

  26. The situation is actually bit more complex than headline suggest. According to some reports the fan claim the jersey had offensive symbel on it, not just regular team jersey. So investigaton make sense to determine if there was genuine concern or just unreasonable demand. We should wait for official findings before jumping to conclusion about anyones behavoir.

  27. Honestly this sounds like a miss understanding that got blown out of proportion. Maybe the fan just had a reasonable request that was miss communicated? Not everything need to be a big scandal guys.

  28. Oh yes, because covering a jersey is definitely the biggest crime in cricket history. I’m sure Lancashire will deploy their entire investigative team for this world-shattering incident.

  29. For those who dont know, the 4th T20 match between England and Pakistan scheduled at Old Trafford which is in Lancashire. The incident happened during warm up session when Pakistani supporter requested player to hide jersey brand. Lancashire County Cricket Club now looking into the matter as per their statment.

  30. Seriously? Covering jersey? What next, asking players to play blindfolded because light hurts eyes? Some people need reality check badly.

  31. Everyone talking about fan but nobody asking WHY he asked to cover jersey. Maybe there was genuine religious or cultural reason behind it? We shouldnt jump to conclusions before knowing full story. Lancashire investigation will reveal truth.

  32. This is really disapointing behaviour from fans. We should respect all teams and their jerseys no matter what happned in past. Lancashire doing right thing by investigating this matter properly.

  33. So now we policing what people wear at cricket?? What next – banning certain colors? This political correctness going to far

  34. Oh wonderful, another investigation that will take 6 months and conclude with ‘insufficient evidence’. Meanwhile real issues at stadiums like poor facilities and overpriced food get completly ignored. But sure, lets focus on jersey covering.
