Australia has swept the T20I series of five games against the Antilles with 2 games to play.

Playing his first competitive match since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final, Tim David has emphatically hit 11 sixes on a hot Tuesday night in St Kitts. In a breathtaking assault against the West Indies in the 3rd T20I, David smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 37 balls, registering the fastest T20I century by an Australian, eclipsing Josh Inglis’ 43-ball mark from last year.

Tim David’s power while chasing

What made the knock even more staggering was the situation. Walking in at 61/3 while chasing a steep 215, David counterattacked from ball one, dispatching his first delivery to the boundary and never looking back. He reached his half-century in just 16 balls, another Australian record, before launching into overdrive. The power-hitter particularly brutalised the Windies spinners, including Gudakesh Motie, Akeal Hosein, and Roston Chase, who was plundered for 23 runs in one over alone.

His 128-run stand with Mitchell Owen (36* off 16) took Australia home in just 16.1 overs and handed them an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. What was more fascinating is that David used Andre Russell’s bat in the match. The Caribbean legend played his last T20I match in the previous game as he bid goodbye to the West Indies fans.

Joins Abhishek Sharma, edges past Sanju Samson

David’s century now sits joint-third on the list of fastest T20I centuries in matches involving Full Member nations. He equals India’s Abhishek Sharma, who also struck a 37-ball ton against England earlier this year, and crucially, edges past Sanju Samson, who recorded a 40-ball hundred against Bangladesh in 2024.

David’s IPL affiliation with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has made him a household name in India as well. Also, he played a extremely crucial role in RCB’s maiden IPL triumph earlier this year, as he clubbed 187 runs at a strike rate of 185.15. Among Australians, only Aaron Finch (14) has hit more sixes in a T20I innings than David’s 11.

  1. Wait so now every player who hits fast century is equal to every other player? By this logic my local gully cricket champion also equal to Virat Kohli becuz he also score runs lol

  2. Oh wow another “fastest century” record broken! Tomorrow someone will do it in 36 balls and we’ll have another breaking news article. So exciting much wow!

  3. Congratulations Tim David! 37 ball century is mind blowing stuff. Really happy to see him perform at this level consistently now.

  4. For context, Sanju Samson previous record was 42 balls for his hundred. Tim David achieved this in just 37 deliveries which is quite remarkable. However the comparison with Abhishek Sharma might be premature since sample size is still small for proper statistical analysis.

  5. Amazing knock by Tim David but the headline writer needs to learn that breaking one record doesnt automatically make you equal to completly different player lmao. Its like saying apple is equal to orange because both are fruits

  6. I think people missing the point here. The comparision might be about there current form and strike rate not there overall career. Tim David strike rate in last 10 innings is probly similar to Abhishek which is why comparision being made. Just my two cents tho

  7. If Tim David = Abhishek Sharma and Abhishek Sharma > Sanju Samson then Tim David > Sanju Samson by transitive property? Math checks out guys! Nobel prize for this journalist plz

  8. I dont agree with this comparision at all. How can you say Tim David equal to Abhishek Sharma when they play in diferent positions and diferent formats mostly? This kind of headline just for clickbait nothing else.

  9. This is rubbish comparision honestly. Tim David is power hitter yes but Abhishek Sharma have much better technique and can play longer innings. One good knock doesnt make them equal wtf

  10. This is absolutly insane! Tim David just proving he is best finisher in world criket right now. But saying equal to Abhishek is bit strech because Abhishek style is completly diferent no?

  11. Tim David be like: “Hold my beer Sanju bhai” and then proceeds to smash 37 ball hundred hahaha. But seriously though man is absolute beast when he gets going no cap
