Yeah but how is this making history exactly?? Playing games that other teams play isnt history thats just called basketball. Your telling me every expansion team that plays their first games is making history now? Thats not how it works at all.
The Valkyries are currently 0-0 as a expansion team facing the Connecticut Sun who finished 28-12 last season. This matchup will be interesting because the Sun have three all-stars while Valkyries still building their roster. Historical context matters here – only 2 expansion teams ever made playoffs in first year.

I think people missing the point here – its not about winning every game, its about the journey of a new franchise. Remember when Vegas started? They struggled too but look at them now. Gotta give these players and coaches time to build something special, Rome wasnt built in a day you know.

This is actualy exciting for the league tho. New markets, new fans, more attention to womens basketball. Even if they dont win alot this season, bringing WNBA to the Bay Area is huge for the sport long term.
