Sunrisers Hyderabad gave a massive blow to the hopes of the Chennai Super Kings eliminations with a five -gate victory during a battle of wrestlers at the Ma Chidambaram stadium on Friday. The victory, the first from SRH to Chepauk, was fueled by the brilliant 4 of Harshal Patel for 28 on a slow surface and a composed pursuit which led them above the line in 18.4 Overs.
Chennai’s sticks in the stick continued to haunt them while they were wrapped for 154 in 19.5 overs. Dewald Brevis obtained a score with a little of 42 out of 25 balls, while the late Camée de Deepak Hooda of 22 helped CSK run 150. The attack by SRH Pace, led by the smart variations of Harshal and skillfully supported by Pat Cummins (21/21), Jaydev Unadkat (2/21) (1/28), never leave the hosts.

Despite the dew helping the pursuit, SRH did a hard job on the modest target. After the first setbacks, Ishan Kishan (44 OFF 34) rooted the sleeves, before Kamindu Mendis (32 * to 22) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (19 * off 13) ended the work with a little uninterrupted stand of 49 points for the sixth window.
Who is this IPL player?
With this victory, SRH moved to the eighth in the table at ten teams, collecting six points against nine games. Their hopes in the playoff series, although thin, remain alive – forcing them to win the five remaining games, and by a healthy margin to stay in the running.
For CSK, it was their seventh defeat in nine games, leaving them at the bottom of the table and needing an almost miracle to qualify – five consecutive victories and a favorable rush. The loss also highlighted its growing concerns: a fragile superior order, a lack of bowling bite and confidence with confidence at all levels.
In short, scores:
Chennai Super Kings: 154 All in 19.5 Overs (Dewald Brevis 42; Harshal Patel 4/28).
Sunrisers Hyderabad: 155/5 in 18.4 Overs (Ishan Kishan 44).
