Zack Wheeler takes advantage of another stellar season, although his worst start to the campaign came last month against the Braves of Atlanta.

Wheeler obtained another blow on the brave Wednesday when the ace of the Phillies takes the ball in the intermediate competition of a three game set in Philadelphia.

Wheeler (6-1, 2.42 ERA) enters this match with a sequence of 22 consecutive rounds aimlessly, not having granted a race in none of its last three departures. He bleached athletics on 6 2/3 innings last Friday by winning his fourth consecutive departure.

The recent Zeros channel was a welcome show for Wheeler, who granted a top five points in a season of 5 1/3 innings on April 8 in a 7-5 defeat against the Braves. The right -wing veteran made a decision without a decision in this competition, but has always been visibly dissatisfied afterwards.

“I was angry with myself for not having done the end because you are proud of this type of thing,” said Wheeler after this competition. “Not being able to assert and get out of this unharmed round, it drove me crazy.”

Wheeler has a 13-8 file with a 3.10 MPM in his career against the Braves.

He will be opposed in this match by AJ Smith-Shawver (3-2, 3.67), who has been looking to bounce back since his worst early 2025.

The right -hander granted seven points in three rounds against the Washington Nationals on Thursday. Previously, he had abandoned only one deserved point in 19 2/3 rounds in his first three departures this month.

Smith-Shawver has not yet faced phillies in the regular season.

He may not need to face Bryce Harper, because the star’s first goal player was drilled in the right elbow by Spencer Strider when the Tuesday series opened. The X -rays were negative on Harper, which was diagnosed with a contusion.

“He is one of the best players of this century and he must be on the field. It is better for the game and it is good for us (to have it there),” said Strider. “It’s good to compete with him.”

As for whether Harper would be available Wednesday, the director of Philadelphia, Rob Thomson, said: “We will have to assess in the morning.”

Ranger Suarez launched six-sleeves aimlessly for the phillies in the Tuesday competition, a 2-0 victory from Philadelphia. Max Kepler participated in a race in the second round and Philadelphia added an insurance sequence in the eighth on the way to his 10th victory in 11 games.

Strider did not leave the fifth round for Atlanta, who has dropped five of his last six games. The Braves only managed five strokes – the same total as the Phillies – as pitching dominated in front of a frantic crowd in Citizens Bank Park.

“This place burst,” said Kepler. “I loved it. I hope they go out tomorrow and show the same energy.”

Philadelphia and Atlanta have divided their four meetings so far this season. The Phillies, which have the best record in baseball, run the New York dish of 1 1/2 games in the national league, and they provide 9 1/2 games in front of the Braves.
