Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka should compete in a series of white bullets featuring two ODI and three T20is at Harare Sports Club.The series will start with the ODIs on August 29 and 31, followed by T20I matches in early September.T20I matches are of particular importance for Zimbabwe as they are preparing for the regional final of the World Cup of the ICC. Zimbabwe will host this qualification event from September 19 to October 4, which will determine the last two African teams for the T20 2026 World Cup, co-organized by India and Sri Lanka.“We are delighted to confirm the visit of Sri Lanka to Zimbabwe for what we expect to be an exciting and competitive series. The matches between our two nations have always produced entertaining cricket, and this tour arrives at a crucial moment for our team while we are preparing for the next qualification campaign of the T20 World Cup, “said Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni.The most recent meeting between these teams took place in January 2024, where Sri Lanka won a 2-0 victory in an ODI series of three home games. The next series teams have not yet been announced.The Zimbabwe calendar includes the reception of South Africa, the world testing champions of the ICC, for two test games. This will be followed by a trial involving South Africa and New Zealand.Sri Lanka is currently engaged in its first world championship cycle games against Bangladesh at home. They will also play three ODI and T20is after the test series.
